Faculty

TOM DE VITA was born in Queens, New York. He is an academically trained artist. He received his Bachelor Fine Arts in Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture, from St. John's University, in New York, and his Master of Fine Arts from Miami International University of Art & Design, in Miami, FL.

He exhibits locally and nationally, and is the recipient of the Duane Hanson Allied Artist Fellowship, exhibited a solo exhibition at The Lee Wagener Art Gallery at The Fort Lauderdale - Hollywood International Airport in 2013, and is The Artist in Residence for the City of Pembroke Pines, for 2014-2015.

He has been a professor of art at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Barry University, and Broward College, teaching painting, drawing, and design.

LYNDA DE VITA was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 1989, Lynda moved to New York City and attended Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, majoring in Fine Arts with a concentration in Illustration. After graduating in 1994, she moved to South Beach, Florida and worked as freelance Illustrator and Designer. 

In 2007, Lynda received her Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration from Marywood University, PA. Currently she is a full-time instructor of Fashion Design and Fashion Illustration, at Miami International University of Art & Design. 

Lynda creates Fashion Illustrations, Fashion Designs, Illustrations for children's books and magazines, Murals and Fine Art. She is a member of Fashion Group International and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She has illustrations published in magazines and greeting cards.

Guest Faculty 



ANGEL ALVAREZ attained his Masters of Fine Arts in Illustration at University of Hartford. He now specializes in children’s illustration where his work reflects an interest in visual storytelling and humorous characters. 

In 2015, he was selected by Simon and Schuster Art Director as the first place Florida SCBWI rising kite winner in illustration. In 2016, he would follow that up with a Florida SCBWI rising kite honorable mention. In 2017, he created Cartoon Drawing Studio Youtube Channel as a way to teach young artist proper cartoon drawing techniques. 

Angel still lives and works in South Florida with his biggest inspiration - his son Gabriel.



MILO DAVIS is currently receiving her Associates in Art. She has studied drawing, painting, printmaking, design, and ceramics at Broward College. Milo has been studying under Tom De Vita at both Broward College and at the De Vita Academy of Art, since 2014. She will be moving to northern Florida in the fall to pursue her BFA in Studio Art, with a concentration in illustration. Milo has exhibited locally at the Rosemary Duffy Larson gallery and soon hopes to exhibit nationally and internationally. She works as a life-drawing model and art teacher for the De Vita Academy of Art Prep Program.



JON HUNT works in both traditional and digital media for book jackets, storyboards, concept art, collectible card games, role playing manuals, music videos, and magazines.

He is a freelance illustrator for Frombie, designing collectible toys, comics, pins, poster and more. In addition to his freelance work, Jon has developed his own line of creepy character pins called EEPz. 

Jon teaches Watercolor Techniques and Fantasy & Science Fiction Art.
